The Amazing Power of VBS #1: Spiritual Growth

Vacation Bible School has many incredible things going for it. Sure, some of you may feel it is outdated but that is being too harsh. VBS may have been around for a long time but it has evolved over the years. This is not your mother’s VBS!

Churches are able to select material from a variety of companies so the various churches in your neighborhood may each have a different theme from all the others. This means your children can attended 1, 2, even 3 sessions & not learn the same lessons each week. And ministries work to make the sessions fun for kids & parents.

In this series, I want to share my thoughts on 5 things I believe VBS has to offer you & your kids. You may think of more but since I am the one writing this list & these posts… well, you get the idea.

The most important thing VBS has to offer is spiritual growth. There are so many bad things in the world that can easily influence children. One of the best ways to protect them it to make certain they are strong spiritually. Like vitamins & healthy eating help to keep their bodies strong, protecting them from illness, spiritual growth helps strengthen them so they are able to withstand the bad that threatens them.

The spiritual growth of your children also helps your growth. Kids may come home with questions or wanting to share what they learned. This enables you to learn more about their lesson material & the Scripture that goes with it.

VBS is a fun way to engage your children in the Word of the Lord. And a wonderful way for everyone in your family to grow spiritually.
